Meet Your Guide Noah Ramsey

I am a native to Butte County and have lived in Oroville for most of my life. I graduated from Cal Poly Humboldt with a Bachelor's Degree in Wildlife Ecology, Conservation, and Management in 2026. While attending Cal Poly Humboldt I worked on bird banding projects and point count surveys in the Eastern Sierras.

I’m passionate about birds and the incredible wildlife that calls Northern California home. Birdwatching has given me a deeper appreciation for the beauty, diversity, and unique habitats all around us. I love sharing that passion with others and helping people discover new birds, explore local habitats, and experience the joy of seeing these amazing creatures in the wild. My goal is to inspire more people to slow down, look closer, and appreciate the birds right here in our own backyard.

How My Bird Guide Trips Work

My bird guide trips are relaxed, welcoming outings designed to help you discover the birds and wildlife of Northern California. We’ll meet at a designated trailhead, parking lot, or other convenient starting point before heading out together.

After introductions and a quick overview of what to expect, we’ll walk the trail at an easy, comfortablee pace, stopping along the way to look and listen for birds. I’ll help you identify species, share interesting facts about their behavior and habitat, and point out other wildlife and natural features we encounter.

Whether you’re new to birding or already have experience, everyone is welcome. The goal is to enjoy the outdoors, learn along the way, and have a great birding experience together.

Scheduling

Birding trips are available Saturdays and Sundays and I recommend to start birding by 8 a.m. If you’d like to schedule a trip on another day of the week, please contact me to check availability.

Rates & Payment

My birding guide rate is $20 per hour. I prefer to guide trips for a maximum of 5 hours (half a day), but arrangements can be made for a full-day trip if requested in advance.

The standard party limit is 4 people. For groups larger than 4, there is an additional $20 per person.

Payment can be made when we meet for the trip by cash, check, or Venmo.

Trip Locations

My birding trips are primarily based in Butte County, California, where we can explore a variety of excellent birding habitats and enjoy the incredible diversity of Northern California birds.

For the fall and winter seasons, one of our featured locations is Gray Lodge Wildlife Area, a fantastic destination for viewing wintering waterfowl and other bird species.

If you’re interested in a birding trip outside of Butte County, please contact me. I’m happy to discuss other locations and see what may be possible for your trip.
